"5 on 5" with SALEZ

1. Q: What brought SALEZ to the game?

A: Growing up in a household where music was being played at all times definitely contributed to my love for music. I would listen to the music my parents would play and make my own personal remixes to them by changing around the words. I also always had a passion for writing even before I started doing music; writing is something that came naturally and eventually led me to enter the music scene. Therefore my love for music and my passion for writing is what brought me to the game.

2. Q: The game is to be sold not told: true or false?

A: I think this statement is both true and false. I feel that the game should be first told than sold. As an artist, I feel that you need to have the ability to express yourself by letting people know exactly how you feel by turning your thoughts and feelings into music and in order to be successful you have to be able to attract people to your thoughts and feelings which will enable you to sell your music. At the end of the day, what you present to your audience/fans will determine if you’re worth their money but to be worth their money you need to keep them interested by being diverse with what you put out so that you can leave them with wanting more.

3. Q: What kind of music are you selling to the people?

A: The kind of music that I am trying to sell to the people is the type that everyone can relate to. I want to be able to please all types of age groups ranging from preteens to the older crowd. Being diverse with my music is another important aspect so I also try to make sure each of my songs has their own distinctiveness and I try to explore more than one genre of music. At the moment, I’ve been mainly producing Club Hits, RnB and Hip Hop tracks.

4. Q: Commercial vs. Underground: How do you balance both?

A: I came out as an underground artist but I now see myself focusing more on the commercial side. As many artists know, one of the best ways to be exposed is over the radio and the radio is strictly commercial. My goal is to be heard all across the globe but I would still put out underground music to please my fans.

5. Q: What are the main products coming soon from you?

A: I want everyone to be on the lookout for some more commercial material on the radio, a lot of new features and just new music in general. My first mix tape just recently came out, as you already know, so I would advise the people to check that out as well.

Thanks to SALEZ and don't forget to download his mixtape (check the left side) and get familiar.
